Solar Access is a Netherlands-based international developer and operator of solar power projects. It has multiple projects in the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy. While SolarAccess provides the technical expertise for the construction and day-to-day management of the plants, Triodos Energy Transition Europe Fund provides the financial expertise and the required capital to build the plants and expand the portfolio. These kinds of long-term partnerships are the success factor for carbon reduction and a more sustainable future. An example project is Silvius Sun, which consists of 19 roof-mounted plants on industrial and agricultural buildings and benefits from the green certificate system for solar projects in Flanders. The fund invested in 2013 and increased its stake in 2018. Another example is the partnership between Triodos Energy Transition Europe Fund and Solar Access with Heineken Netherlands, which involved the installation of solar panels on eight distribution centre roofs. Following this successful project a second investment in roof-mounted solar panels for Heineken was installed on their brewery in Massafra, Italy. The average irradiation level (strength of the solar power) is around 45% higher than a plant in the Netherlands. All the generated electricity is used by the brewery.
