Triodos Energy Transition Europe Fund has a majority stake in a utility scale lithium-ion energy storage system in the Netherlands which is developed and will be operated by Netherlands-based Iwell.
The energy storage system has a power capacity of around 7 MW and an energy output of around 14,000 kWh, enough to supply around 2,000 Dutch households with energy. Utilisation of the battery could reduce up to 2,600 tonnes of CO2 emission per annum, compared to the CO2 emission from a gas plant.
