Asociacion Fondo de Desarrollo (FDL) is one of the largest microfinance institutions in Nicaragua. Its aim is to improve the social and economic position of low-income groups, especially in rural areas.
By focusing mainly on rural areas, FDL is able to make a tangible contribution to the development of Nicaragua, which is among the poorest countries in Latin America. FDL also provides special ‘green loans' to farmers to enable them to conduct their business in a more environmentally friendly manner.
