Agence Française de Développement (AFD) is a development bank owned by the French government. AFD finances and helps to implement development projects with the aim of sustainable and shared economic growth and social development in the French overseas territories and in developing countries. The company offers a range of financial instruments and technical assistance to large and small businesses.

Investment rationale

A wide range of projects is included in the SDG bond, so a theme fit with many themes can be argued, but as all projects contribute to access to essential services and/or socioeconomic advancement and empowerment in emerging or developing countries, the overarching theme of the bond is Social Inclusion & Empowerment.
Project examples are: a project to develop skills training for specific sector in Cambodia, a project to optimise a metro line in Dominican Republic and a project to provide social protection from the covid-19 crisis in the poorest regions in India.
