We invest in companies that are already well aligned with our vision, or companies that display a clear commitment to becoming more sustainable, but also in smaller, innovative actors that push the business ecosystem in the right direction with their solutions.
We look for companies with relevant activities, such as:
- Organic food, farming and distribution
- Fairtrade food, farming and related activities
- Healthy and plant-based food
- Food waste reduction, including packaging
- Activities for land regeneration, for example soil quality
Public equities and bonds
Our Impact Equities and Bond funds invest in listed food companies that contribute to this transition at various stages of the food value chain. These are mainly food and beverage producers and retailers, companies involved in the production of organic fertilisers and producers of medical and infant nutrition. Examples include Nomad Foods, Euglena and Hain Celestial.
Private debt and equity
Our Private Debt and Equity funds offer loans and private equity to businesses that contribute to a food and agriculture system that works with nature rather than against it.
Triodos Food Transition Europe Fund provides long-term private equity investments to growing scale-ups and mature food companies in Europe. Investment examples include Stadtsalat in Germany, Jetdrinks in the Netherlands and CrowdFarming in Spain.
Triodos Groenfonds provides debt and transition loans to organic farms in the Netherlands, such as Stadsboerderij Almere and De Zonneboog.
Hivos-Triodos Fonds, a blended finance initiative of Triodos Bank and Hivos, finances small-scale farmer organisations and cooperatives with scalable business models across the food value chain in Africa and Latin America. Examples of investments include Sol Organica and Caravela.
