HARi&CO company was founded in 2014 by Benoît Plisson and Emmanuel Brehier, two agricultural engineers from Lyon in France, with a strong focus on providing healthy, highly nutritive products made from locally grown vegetables. Its products are 100% organic and 100% plant-based, do not contain soy or additives and all ingredients are sourced in France.
Fund Manager Adam Kybird: “HARi&CO is fantastic example of the solutions the world needs for its broken food system. Through high quality, organic and sustainable food the company offers consumers great options that are good for them and good for the world. We are proud to have been part of the HARi&CO journey these past years and are excited to see where they will go with this next step.”
Triodos Food Transition Europe Fund has sold its equity stake to Groupe Avril SCA, an international agro-industrial group based in France and specialised in food, animal feed, renewable energy and sustainable chemistry. It was created in 1983 by a collective group of French farmers to support the oilseeds and protein crops value chain. Today the group operates in 19 countries, employs over 7,000 employees, and holds a portfolio of leading brands in several European and African markets, essentially in France.
“We see Groupe Avril SCA as an impact aligned player and are confident that this reputed company brings valuable expertise to the further sustainable growth and development of HARi&CO. Also given their strong financial position and leading role in the food industry in France,” says Adam Kybird.
Benoît Plisson and Emmanuel Brehier, founders of HARi&CO: "We are very enthusiastic about this new step for HARi&CO. We have a shared commitment with Avril, which will allow us to grow our business while remaining true to our values. This transaction is a real boost to our ambition: to become the key player in plant-based cuisine. We are more than ever invested in this exciting new page of our adventure. We warmly thank the teams of Triodos Food Transition Europe Fund and Eutopia for the formidable entrepreneurial journey we had together."
