Triodos Investment Management initially applied for the label for a limited number of its funds and received the quality standard for all of them. Other Triodos IM funds are expected to be included for application in an upcoming review round as well.
The new quality standard is developed building on the notion that investors should be able to rely upon the assumption that the money they put into a 'socially responsible’ financial product is not used to finance activities and practices that are generally accepted as 'unsustainable'. With that objective, the quality standard requires the exclusion of financing of a limited number of practices that are widely regarded as unsustainable. The Triodos IM funds, with their aim to generate positive change rather than avoid negative impact, go well beyond the minimal requirements stated in the standard.
